A Study in Simplicity: New Fruit Paintings for the Season Ahead.

Finding Inspiration

I started these little fruit studies in January, when everything outside felt gray and quiet. I didn’t set out with a big plan, just a simple desire to play, to paint without overthinking. As I gathered inspiration, I kept coming back to fruit.

There was something about their quiet presence that drew me in. The softness of their forms, the warmth of their colors, the way they feel so tied to slow afternoons and simple moments.

Lemons

Figs

Peaches

Oranges

Fruits that remind me of spring, of longer days ahead, of time spent in the garden and little picnics with the kids. I think that’s what I was longing for most while painting these… the feeling of warmth returning.

Muted Spring Tones:

The colors in this series reflect that quiet shift toward spring:

Buttercream.

Muted Yellows.

Dusty Blues.

Sage Green.

Soft Peach.

Warm Fig.

I chose these tones for their warmth, keeping them muted for a more calming feel.

They’re gentle and understated, calming but full of life.

The Beauty of Simple Things

Fruits are such a simple subject, but that’s exactly what I love about them.

Their gentle shapes, the quiet textures, the way they catch the light.

They remind me to slow down, to notice the small things,

to find beauty in what’s right in front of me.

That’s the heart of this series—

simplicity, softness, and warmth.

I chose muted spring tones intentionally—the soft creams, muted yellows, dusty blues, warm peach tones, and deep fig hues. They feel like that slow shift between seasons, when winter finally softens and spring feels close enough to reach.

For the Home.

Collage made from Pinterest, where the Images were sourced.

These little studies feel like they belong in the heart of a home.

Framed in a cozy kitchen nook.

Layered on a shelf.

Tucked into a quiet corner.

Something about them feels nostalgic and familiar, a little reminder of the beauty in everyday things.

I hope they bring that same feeling to your home

of warmth, of simple joys, of slowing down.

Details

Each piece in this series is small, ranging from 4x6 to 8x10 inches.

Some are painted on deckled-edge paper, while others are on raw canvas, where the natural texture adds a soft, organic feel.

The edges, the textures, and the scale all add to their simplicity.
